Ran consistant 11.80's with each pass and the temps were low 70's during my runs. Here is my best time with my mods below!

60ft. 1.93
1/8 7.78
mph 94.50
1/4 11.85
mph 122.60

My car is a slug coming off the line it has no power from a dead stop when flooring it but if i am moving at any speed even 10mph it pulls very hard so i am thinking that my tune still has the dreaded torque management left in it:huh:

Cam specs are 228/228 588/588 114lsa

Does anyone have any input why my car will melt the tires at a roll from 10mph to 30mph even with bfg drag radials but from a complete dead stop will barely spin or not spin at all taking off feeling underpowered.I read somewhere that someone said torque management is kicking in because i have floored the car from a dead stop and would like to hear from others what they think.I had traction control turned off also. Thanks!

I would think it is the torque management working. Keeps things from breaking.

I am assuming your torque and horsepower rating it at the engine not rear wheel, is this correct?

My horsepower and torque rating is at the rear wheels on a dynojet sae correction factor making 450rwhp and 408tq.

Nice times, I'm sure the weather helped. Thanks for the comments on my post, yes, it's TM kicking in on our rides that kill us, no, there's not a way to completely remove it. My best run has been a 12.0, but with less HP/TQ than I have now, so the TM is probally applying a higher % to decrease the damage possibilty. You and I have very similar set ups, I don't have the vararam, porting of the heads(mine are stock L92's w/ .30 mill for gasket) underdrive pully, or cat back, but am turning close to your #'s @ 450/405 RWHP/TQ. I think we'd make for a great race, man! Now, just get me outta this 85% humidity/ 120 degree track temp area!!!

Get a loose torque converter and you will run 10s with that mph.

You can remove TM with HP Tuner. Just be ready for some hard shifts. I had to re-enable mine. Tires spin was so bad almost lost control on the 1-2 shift. With about a 4000 converter the shifts should not be so shocking because the rpm won't be dropping near as much at shift.

Another problem with the factory converter is shift extension. It drops below peak torque at shift. You don't want to drop more than to about 5000 rpm at shift. Mine drops to about 4100 or so.

I ran a 10.778 with a 122.64 mph in my Camaro with a PI 3600 stall.

While I agree you can tune away part of the TM, some still remains, we both have had our cars tuned and it's still there in some form. As for the TC, I won't be getting one until the prices drop significantly and I can find one thats street worthy as well. I'm in the process of getting info from the new tranny tune from GM's 08 C6sA6 and seeing what needs to be done, tuning wise, to upgrade to a performance rear gear , also from GM. I'm thinking, the performance axle GM offers is more to blame for the lower ETs the new cars boast(.1 ET reduction in Z51 A6 in the 1/4 , stock) than the extra 36 HP. BTW, no offence at all , but your run with the camaro is of no consequence when comparing to a C6, totally different animal, no TPS, no TM. I was running low 11's in my TA for a couple of years, but this C6 is a whole other story. Those who get to practice more getting around the TM , makes better ETS, thats for certian.

Please show me in your HP Tuners where you can partially tune away TM? If you know something I don't please share. It's either all or none that I have found. Sure you can raise your max torque values for each gear and raise torque input/output values but I've found that to do nothing for et or shift firmness. Only thing I found that works is to completely disable Upshift Torque Reduction.

As far as a torque converter, don't know of anyone that makes a good 3600-4000 stall yet.

My 98 Camaro did have TM! I tuned it out. Perhaps not like the Corvette but it was there. Yes, they are different but the same as well.

IMO i feel my tuner never removed my TM because before i purchased the car from him i asked him if TM was removed and he said no and i asked him if he would remove it for me and put a 160 stat in before i pick it up and he said he would and i know that he never put the 160 stat in because my car runs consistantly 199-202 temps all the time and my car is a complete dog from a dead stop also. There are many people with Chuck Cow's tune that swear there bone stock car is way quicker and faster and blows the tires off quite easily from a standing start so i know its possible on these cars. I am going to have my tune looked at this friday by a tuner and see if my TM is still on and what improvements he might be able to do to get some more low end power off the line for me.
