Just picked up a 9 leaf spring for pennies.Thought it would be better than the 7 leaf I have. Car was always low in the rear. The bolts that were given to me are bigger and don.t screw into rear. Are the rear's different for the 9 and 7 leaf springs? :bang

The cover and springs changed in 78 & 79. The 69 should have the cover using 9/16 bolts not the 7/16's used in the 78 & 79's.

The 63-77 spring was 2-1/4 wide the 78-79 are 2-1/2 wide.

The 9 leaf was the std suspension spring, the 7 is the gymkana spring. I've used both and never really felt much difference with them. The 7 leaf came with diff front coils, shocks and a rear sway bar as part of the package.

Many if not all aftermarket springs require the 8" bolts to lower the rear of the car down. Using the 6.25 stock bolts will lift the rear because the arching on the aftermarket spring is not the same as original. GM long discontinued them.
