:huh::huh:I'm cleaning off 30+ yrs off road grime in preperation for installation of my 6 Link/Johnny Joint modded T/As.

What looked like a drippy undercoating turns out to be a petroleum/dirt compound. Under this appears to be clean grey fiberglass, except for the area that wasn't covered in petro goo. This appears to be painted black.

Were the wells painted black from the factory, or do I just have a thinner layer of goo to remove?:huh:

I don't think the underside of my '77 fender wells were painted. They seemed to be that raw fiberglass off-white color.
