Guys,

I'm getting the full-width spoiler from GM for my black Z. I'm heavily leaning towards black for the overall color matching. A part of me wants to see how red would look. I think a red spoiler can complement the red tail lights and red calipers. However, it might stand out too much. What if I add some more red touches to the car, say, red CORVETTE letterings on the rear bumper? What do you guys think? I just don't want the car to look rice.

Thanks,

It should look great, if you work the red into the wheels.

I'm looking at putting a black spoiler on my 01 Torch Red Coupe and C6 Black wheels or C6 Black Z06 wheels with the machined/brushed/chrome lips. I talked to David DeBerry ([email protected]) in California who would do the inner part of my new wheels in red for an additional $50/wheel. This may be an option if you are looking at changing the wheels if you go with a a red spoiler.

Good Luck and you have one beautiful car (black, red, yellow it doesn't matter C6 Z06). My Z06 has to wait as we're picking up a new boat - potentional new name MY C6 Z06. The wife didn't like the name, but my corvette buddies get a kick out of it.

Imo...

If I were in your shoes I would ask someone to photshop it for you. I can see a black spoiler on a red Z but red might look too much like and afterthought.

If I were to do something like that I would look into maybe doing a "stinger" type paint job to the front hood area in red. That would tie it all together. Just my .02.

Maybe just adding some red hash marks on the sides of a black spoiler would give it a cool touch. But it's your car, do what you want:thumbsup:

Great job with the above photo however remember history shows us that unless it's a factory option you will be reducing the value of your investment. With that said and understood you should do what pleases you not us. It's easy for us to tell you to screw up your car. We'd all love to see anything new!

Maybe if you installed a rear tail lamp that's red going inside the spoiler that goes the length of the spoiler which is black, would look good?

NO NO NO...:spanked: But thats just my opinion...
:agree: I think I would be okay with it if the car had a bit more red to tie it in.

jmaal13: Thanks for doing the photoshop. That's exactly what I wanted to see, especially the sideview. I think it's your post over at Corvette Forum that got me thinking about the spoiler. I'm gonna powdercoat the wheels black (undecided on gloss, semi-gloss, or flat), so maybe if they can make the lip red too?

Is that rice boiled or steamed?

If as you say, "You don't want it to look ricer" then the answer is No. IMHO the red spoiler on a black car looks like a JC Whitney after thought which is the last thing you want to do to your Vette. That said, its your car and you should make it like you want it. You can always re-paint it black later if you don't like it.
