Not gonna happen from GM,aftermarket companies will do it.I wouldn't do it to mine.
the Z06 roof is fixed for chassis stiffness. I can notice a difference in the handling on my C6 roof on/off
GM says that the lighter Aluminum side rails need the closed top to maintain chassis rigidity. Unless some additional supports are added, the Z06 top is very likely to stay "fixed."
I understand the need for fixed top. However wouldn’t a clear option like on the coupe be nice? I am not sure what the weight of the Z06 top is, but the C6 clear top panel is fairly light.

And weak.
On this one I totally agree with you. There is VERY little stress on the mag (ti?, I think mag) panel covering the roof frame. There is absolutely NO REASON not to offer an optional fixed polycarbinate panel for the Z06. I think they would sell well and represent a good compromise for those who want the Z06 just a bit more than they want the targa capability.

I was one of those proposing this back before and shortly after the release of the Z06. We know GM watches DC, so it's good you brought this up again.
