Hey, I drive a 1992 Toyota Corolla with a 1.6L DOHC I4 engine. Its starting to leak oil down into one of my sparkplug wells and I'm pretty sure that its the grommets around the wells that are letting the oil in. I tried torquing down the bolts to the valve cover, but that did not stop the leaking. Then I purchased a new valve cover gasket and tried to take my valve cover off to replace it, but the gasket has melted and has turned into a sort of rubber glue that sealed the valve cover to the heads. Does anybody know of a good way to take the valve cover off when this happens? I am afraid to cut it with a razor or knife because I dont want small pieces of rubber inside my heads/crankcase. Hopefully I can keep this car running until I can afford a vette.
