Alaska Sen. Lisa Murkowski is taking on the tea party in her latest advertisement to boost her write-in campaign.

Murkowski blames the Tea Party Express for her GOP primary defeat to attorney Joe Miller last month: The well-funded conservative group, based in Sacramento, Calif., spent almost $600,000 on a negative ad blitz against the senator.

In the latest advertisement, Murkowski supporters criticize the Tea Party Express for influencing the outcome of the GOP primary.

“Wait, the Tea Party Express? Isn’t that the same California group that dumped half a million into Joe Miller’s campaign?” a man on the street says in the ad. “This is my chance and Alaska’s chance to get our senator back,” says another woman.

The Tea Party Express announced this week that it will return to Alaska to campaign on Miller’s behalf. The Express’s lead consultant, Sal Russo, confirmed to POLITICO Wednesday that the group will start airing radio advertisements soon and send staff to the state as soon as this weekend.

The Murkowski ad is one of a pair of spots released Thursday intended to teach voters how to fill out a write-in ballot and spell the senator’s name correctly. The other television advertisement, “Spelling Clinic 101,” takes place in a classroom, where students are tested on how to spell Murkowski.

Some people just don't know when to quit. I saw Michael Steele on Greta last night, and he basically said Murkowski needs to give up the seat and go quietly. He also said that Miller is the GOP candidate for Alaska and the RNC is putting it's funding behind him and not Murkowski.

The problem with people like Murkowski, Crist, and the dude from Delaware, is they've been entrenched for so long, the sense of entitlement to the position precludes reason and good sense, if there is any of that in politics. They are fast becoming parodies of themselves and acting like they do is proof they have nothing but thier OWN interests in mind and not the will of the people, who voted them out.

Sad...

Look at the Colorado race for Governor. It will most likely be won by Hickenlooper (D). The Rep candidate Maes has a third party candidate Tancredo who will likely out draw him for votes but has left any real opposition to the dem candidate totally shattered. I can see that Steele thinks he is doing the right thing by backing Maes, but he would have done better telling Maes to drop out, clearing the way for Tancredo. Not quite the same as the Alaska race, etc. But it does show how third party candidates can really screw up the election process.
