I'm on a Spring Break Road Trip with the family. Did a stop at Bowling Green, KY to see the museum and tour the factory. Museum was OK, and factory tour was way cool.
It wasn't until half way through the tour that our guide pointed out that some of the Z06s on the line were a non-standard color. After watching Speed Channel's 8 hour coverage of Sebring a few weekends a go, I can't believe I didn't put two and two togehter to realize that those were the Ron Fellows limited edition ZO6s being built.
Upon closer look, every fourth car on the line was a white ZO6!!!
With an average of 170 vettes a day, that's 42 RF Z06's a day for 9-10 days production to hit the 400 limit. Very cool!!!
Highlight of the tour was my 13 year old daughter being asked to assist with the final Cadillac XLR test before rolling off of the line...
She hops in, starts the car (push button, sweet!!!), and cycles the retractable hard top 2 times, and got a cool certificate for her help! Problem is, now she wants one. I told her to start saving now and she might have enough of the $77,000 price tag by the time she's 60!!!
One other cool fact: 33 hours to build a corvette (including paint and all sub-assemblies time). I'll be lucky if I can build my GS in 33 months!!!
