Soo...time to pick the parts for a decent oiling system.

Grumpy recommended this Canton oil pan which after the block changed to roller block IMHO should then be 15-240T

This pan is 7" deep so it shouldn't be bad for ground clearance, right?

How close is it to headers being this wide?

Would I need a bigger pan in the first place or could the original L98 pan be modified?

What to get as oil pump?

I have been reading that Melling changed the casting on M55 but that it should have been changed back already. Also, it was mentioned that Melling 10553 should be with "better" casting and billet gears. I'm under impression that stock volume and pressure is all I need. Is that correct?

I have one shot at getting this system right from the start so I wouldn't mind getting advise.

What are you looking to do? Street, track, drag?

Me mostly street and some play on tracks

I'm running a 3.875 stroker with the stock style 6qt pan modified for that. 89 1 piece seal block

My cooling system was new with stock water pump and 4 core stock HD radiator, 180 thermostat. and unless I am sitting in traffic in texas summer heat I have no issues with getting close to my red zone for temps.

Aftermarket Melling pump that is high volume standard pressure and I've had no issues related to the pump/pressure in that time (other leaks). you will need to make sure you have a steel dizzy drive. not sure of the pick up it was what ever the speed shop put in there.

Street, spirited twisties and a couple of RR track days a season.

How is your ground clearance with that 8.25" deep pan?

did you machined your block for better oil flowing and passages when you did your engine?
