My wife took the vette to run a couple errands and called a few minutes later saying she heard a snap and then a rubbing noise of the front left tire...

I get to the parking lot she pulled into and it looked like a caliper bolt broke and the caliper was rubbing the inside of the rim. It did enough rubbing that it took off the wheel weights.

Called a flat bed, and had the car home in a few minutes.

With the car off the truck, I removed the tire...

The front wheel bearing had broken and sheared off...the only reason the tire stayed on the car was 13" rotors and the caliper...very lucky day.

191.00 later and some work, she'll be back on the street, but you can bet all bearings will be replaced soon.

I saw this bearing/hub assembly... it's very odd the way it broke.. the bearing is still all intact.. the hub is intact.. the actuall spindle shaft sheared right between the hub and bearing.. very very weird.. I'm glad noone was hurt.. and the damage was minimal..
