Just noticed on our 86 Vette, that the shoulder portion of the belt either won't tighten up...or is slow to do it allowing you to move forward a considerable distance before locking.

The car has 107K miles and has been sitting a lot in the last 5 to 7 years.

Anybody want to do some testing for me and see how yours reacts...just get going about 35 and slam the brakes.

My other cars lock right away.

????

Not going to drive it until I can get to the bottom of this.

The ones in my car are brand new but if you want to pay shipping I have some extras you can test and see how they react. I'd just like to get them back.

Okay...interesting offer.

I'm going to remove the ones that are in the car and examine the mechanism to see if there is dust, crud...or whatever around the locking swing hammer.

If not - I'll replace them.

I put a set of new belts in my 69 Camaro this last summer for Chevy Enthusiast mag. These belts are super nice and are super sensitive to lock. I like that in a belt.
