I currently have a 79 that I have been working on for the last 3 years. It was my first car. The problem i am having is that i came across a 72 4 speed that needs a little help. I has a new interior and runs good. I needs a little frame work and a paint job. Is it worth giving up my frist car for??? I am hoping to sell the 79 for more than i will buy the 72 so i have a little money to play with. Lemme know what you think. How many of you have sold your first vette?

I didn't sell my first Vette, it was totalled. But, I'd take it over the GS any day. My first Vette was magic, and I still miss it.

Is your current shark running? If they are both project cars, then it's your call. But, if the '79 was running fine and you wanted a broken '72... I dunno. How deep are your pockets?

I don't depend on my car for daily use so I would get the 72. If you rely on your car daily then it might not be such a good idea.

I sure miss my 79. I had several chances to buy another similar to what you are talking about. I had been working on it for about a year and a half and could not bring myself to sell it for another.

Now I have to make up my mind about a replacement. If I get another C3 I intend to mod it a great deal from the suspension upward.

Tough choice and remember greener pastures may not be. Good luck.

Thanks for the input. I still havent decided what i am goin to do. Still contemplating if i can get rid of my first car. The reason i am looking into it is that my dad is a body man and my uncle owns an auto shop also. The paint job is free and the frame work is free also. the guy is only asking 4500 for the 72 so i is a REAL nice deal. I have wanted a 4 speed vette for awhile and this my chance. My 79 has been my daily driver since i bought it but now that i am in my second year of college i no longer used it as that. My plans for the 72 would be heads, cam, intake, sidepipes(obviously) and have fun with it. I have to decide soon so i can try to sell my 79.

Well it doesnt look like i will be getting the 72. It is a completly numbers matching base engine auto car. I really wanted a 4 speed non numbers car so i can have fun with it. So looks like i will be puttting around in the 79 a lil longer.
