finally finished painting the 69 and need advise on mounting the side louvers .
is there a trick to mounting the louvers-the assembly manual shows 3/8 diameter holes used for mounting my question--is there a trick to getting the rubber nuts behind the fender--the front two louvers nuts can possibly be held in place using the adjacent louver holes but how do you attach the last two louvers nuts? i have the correct hardware for attaching the louvers but there must be a way other than force the rubber nuts through the 3/8 holes while attached to the louvers.

You need to access the fasteners from the side vents at the passenger’s and drive’s feet area. This is a project I did a few years ago and found it difficult to get the louvers to fit correctly since the fiberglass distorts somewhat over the years. Some people use self tappers that look similar to the OEM fasteners to avoid putting the nuts into the side vents.

FWIW: a PO had added the trim to my '68. He cheated and used only trim screws. Made it easy for me to repair the holes when I removed the trim.
