I'm pretty sure the CAGS can be eliminated when tuning. I can understand doing that but why would you want to defeat the reverse lockout? Nothing would spell excitement like shifting from 4th to reverse at 120 mph
You need to slow down when your shifting and let the shifter neutral gate itself and then put a little pressure to the right to hit 5th gear.You can feel the notch in the gate if you take your time shifting. The KEY is a little pressure to the right.It sounds like your going way over to the right which you have to do to hit reverse and not to throw 5th gear. Take your time and shift slower or else you'll be rebuilding your tranny real soon. What happens when you shift to 6th gear?
