Came across a Yamaha R-1 sport bike last night on 495 south through Wilmington, DE and ran him from around 75 up to around 150. It was pretty much even up until around 120 when I started pulling away at a pretty good clip. At 120 I went by him like it was a GT500 I was dusting off. Not a bad race, I always like to shock people with the top end this car has especially bikes that think they have all the cars covered. I wish it had better traction so that I could get anyone from a stop, but like anything else it's gotta have some flaws right. It doesn't matter though I like to give people hope and then just shut the door on them as soon as I get traction. It's a cruel world isn't it.

I detect a bit of hostile nature toward motorcycles from some of our forum members. As the owner of a corvette as well as a sportbike I can see a modern corvette nipping a bike on top end especially at the speeds both can obtain, but if you are racing from a dead stop the corvette owner is not going to be close for a very long time. Depending on the displacement of the bike maybe he will not get close at all. "Bike stomping" Yeah right.

I have a cam, headers, intake, tune. You can say what you want about in my dreams, but I know what happened. I have no reason to lie, I've posted my 1/4 times on here already. My car isn't good off the line because I can't get traction but once it does it's gone. I've yet to see many people run 131 mph in the 1/4 with a 2.2 second 60' time. Believe what you want though, I know what happened.

And I have no problems with bikes I'm just telling like it is, but if it's going to be a problem and people take it as offensive I'll just keep my storys and experiences to myself.

Please do share. I've ran across many a crotch rocket rider and have had this conversation. Everytime they think that no car can touch them. Once in a while they aren't king of the road. Mind you I will get a bike in a few years when things settle for me, so don't take what I say as a bias either. Just telling it like i've experienced it.

What dyno numbers have you got? Sounds pretty sick.

My car lays down about 540 at the tires but I haven't had it dynoed since the ported intake was put on. So I assume it would be more now, but who knows.

You must have one wicked top end cam to walk an R1 or he can't ride. That's certainly a great kill.

Yeah this cars top end is crazy, not that it's not torquie down low but you never really get to feel it because the car doesn't hook up well enough. But it pulls from 40 to 170 like not many cars out there. I'm sure there is a ton of cars much faster than this one, but it is really really fast none the less. It'll make a stock Z look like it's standing still up on top end. But a stock one beats mine down low because it can hook it's power better.

Ed,
I too have beaten my fair share of bikes. N/A, I can walk most 600's with decent riders. I've raced 600's, 750's, RC 51's, 954's, 1000's and Busa's. Down low, a liter bike is damn near untouchable! These bikes just move out. From a higher roll, it's a little better but I need the spray to even be close to one. Up top, they actually have quite a bit of drag compared to cars. I can see you taking one up top. Most bikes won't ride till 170mph. Good kill btw. I raced a 954 last weekend and we were dead even believe it not. I was on the spray but I was happy to say the least. Keep up the good work!

What do you mean, "Yeah right." You don't have the full story so it sounds like you are the hostile one. Put it this way, inclusive of "these cars" and to expand on the street car sleeper story in additional detail, when you are cruising US-50 in Sacramento with a 1991 Mustang GT with a built 351 Windsor and a Vortech pressuring said motor to 17 lbs of boost under the hood and having a 200 Compucar shot of NAWS in the hatch the ONLY thing I needed to worry about would be tunnel vision.
I have left so many bikes in my dust I ran out of room on the door to record the kills.
That's only one of my rides but there have been several others bringing the stompings to include vettes.

US50 is my twice-ish a week commute!

What I want to know is.. when/where the hell do you get enough room to run someone... I know of the flat near Camino, but while close to where I live it's far from Sac and thus any fast rides.

My buddies 600RR traps at around 130. The dude in the R1 gave up. A newish R1 will trap in the 140's. Maybe it was an old one running on 3 cylinders.:smack
Yeah well I trapped at 131 and I had a 2.2 60 ft time. If the car ever got traction it would trap in the 140s. I got the R1 from a roll at 75mph. Not too much out there is going to hang with this car once it has traction. You find the bike and the highway and me and my car are game. I guarentee you'll be shocked. Funny how much everyone knows about this car. I forget how please tell me how many people out there have even driven a new Z as to comment on how they run, much less one with all the work I have done. And further more anyone that has driven one has nothing but good things to say about how fast they are. A new Z isn't your run of the mill sports car so don't get offended when one stomps a mud hole your street bikes. No matter what you have car or bike someone always has something faster.

Sounds like you have a fast car. It would be better to do the racing on the track and not the street however. No need in putting the general public in danger. The track is the place for racing. Don't get me wrong I've been guilty of it in the past myself but I've come to no better in recent years. I'm taking my Z06 down to VIR this weekend for a HPDE, you know you turn left, turn right, accelerate and brake not just straight line go. That's where the Z06 shines the best anyway. Don't have to worry about hurting some innocent person and got all the saftey crews around in case something does happen. Tear'um up on the track even if it's straight line (drag strip).
