This is the Corvette - like most Americans, this car is about driving and doing, not just appearing - and for the best price. With all the hype on performance, what about the cockpit ?, what about the driver ? I thought after all these years of studying our adversaries, Ferrari, Porche, Lamborghini...etc. you thought we could have learned something from them, on how to embrace the owner of the most ultimate sports car on the planet..... The one one time the factory could at least taken a hint from the vette tuners...... Makes one wounder is the beginning of the end. Just like another car, GM never listen to the owners about certain large hump in the passenger floor of the car. And how comfortable it was to deal with.........
Ok lets not make an excuses here. You can get a Evo X, with recaros, and brembo brakes, these days so a lil interior upgrade won't bump the price that much. and you mention a car to be driving. well I don't know about you but, if drive your vette like it's ment or can be driven you would know what i'm trying to convey. Once more I'm not arguing ,they have plenty of people to please, but we can do better with what got. And if I'm going to lay down 100,000 plus for this car, I don't won't my first mod to be buying a new set of seats on track day. Lets be real here, this is one hell of a car, pound for pound nothing can touch it. but, we must never rest on our laurels. This is the Corvette - like most Americans, this car is about driving and doing, not just appearing - and for the best price.
The original ZR-1 was less diferentiated in looks than the C4, even though it was probably the supreme engineering feat of 1990.
Dude, some of the sharks had Vega steering wheels. My C5 has old Malibu door handles, too.
These Chevy engineers are doing their best to deliver a supreme driving experience while satisfying a pretty demanding business case.
And they do it. At 100,000, the 2009 ZR-1 will be faster, quicker, safer and more economical and environmentally responsible than any car like it on the planet.
It has been continuously produced for 56 years - Ferrari has been bought and sold by Fiat, Porsche by VW, and Lambo by everybody (now VW - like Bentley, Bugatti and more).
At 100K this car is a bargain (one I can't afford right now, sadly). But I am closer to it than a slower German or Ferrari make at 1.5 to 3 times the price.
If you watched the ultimate factories series, you could have seen the Ferrari factory and the corvette factory back to back. The price for that beautifull interior in the Ferrari comes out of the frame design. If you saw the Ferrari frame next to the Corvette Z06 frame you would be much more impressed with the Z06 and I am sure you would excuse the plastic interior. GM has done a great job with the Corvette for the last dozen years or more. They put the money where it counts.Ok first off the outside of car is awsome. But, that interior. Those seats are you serious, and the malibu steering wheel and two- interior. 100,000 plus and it has a malibu steering wheel. Come on guys this is the vette of vettes, and this is the best we get, plastic trimming???? same old dash thats in a Z06.not that it's bad, but 100,000 plus and the base corvette has the same interior. Ok and the hood has a opening to see the inside engine and whats there a PLASTIC COVER. are you serious a Plastic cover, that bad @#@# LS9 under the hood with... a supercharger and we get to see a plastic cover to look at............ Chevy already makes one... its called the ZO6:thumbsup:GT-R killer??
I see so many people going crazy over the ZR1 but other than more carbon fiber and a supercharged motor nothing is different. To tell you the truth before spending 100k I rather put a supercharger on the current ZO6 and some modifications. All the hype and not much more than what we see. Its terrible that Chevy couldn't change more of it and put bigger scoops or more design into the side panel. I am sure this car is very fast, but I'm not happy with little change. Please made the C7 something to talk about.
:skep:My local newspaper says Multimillionair Ken Ligenfelter has ordered at least 2 new zr1"s.
Must be nice !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:surprised :surprised :surprised
I'm afraid I can't agree with you. When you read the information given at the press release carefully, you will notice that everything has been optimized for performance on the ZR1!... but other than more carbon fiber and a supercharged motor nothing is different.
