Hello all,

I'm adding the power steering on my corvette.

I've got a 1970 small block L46 and two pumps.

One is a 1978 in good condition with the original sheet metal pressed pulley.

The other one is a 1970 pump but I do not have the cast iron original pulley.

So here is a picture of my engine :

My 1978 pump (the pulley is in the wrong way) :

So my question is: will this additional pulley be ok to adapt the 1978 pump on my car ?

It would be easier for me because the 1978 pump is in very good condition and my 1970 not, and I have not the 1970 expensive cast iron pulley ...

Based on your pic, it looks like you have an unused groove on your existing crank pulley. Have you tried to see if the power steering pump belt lines up with the groove on the crank pulley?

You may not need the add on pulley.

Hello Mike,

I've made a first investigation with a ruler and it seems not to be ok, the belt is arriving next to the second actual groove.

And I'm wondering if the additional pulley is expected to be mounted in addition to my original dual groove pulley.

Last question is the frame the same on a 70 and 78 ? because it seems to be very tight to install the pump fitted with the 78 pulley.

I'll do a test this week end.
