hey did your car slip at all when the spring was in??

or just not go into gear, at the time of my clutch replacement, prior, i was having trouble with the pedal comming back up .....:lookinup:

 

clutch never slipped, just stuck to the floor, sometimes not allowing me to get it into gear

Okay maybe you guys know about this one, mine never sticks to the floor but there is an inch or so of free play before resistance is felt, I had it blead and new fluid but still play ??? Also what is the white switch contacting the clutch pedal elbow when the clutch pedal is in released position ??? It has a contact button and is adjustable and mine is not touching the pedal joint (elbow) ?? Should it be ?? Thanks.

 

I dont know about the 1in of travel, but I'm pretty sure the switch your seeing is for the cruise control. It's not supposed to touch, thats what makes it disengage when you push in the clutch.

 

It should be fairly obvious that a spring in the car has virtually zero effect on clutch engagement/disengagement under neath the car since the the car uses a hydraulic clutch system and the real issues has had to do with pressure plates.

I dont recommend or endorse this "fix", this is the first I've heard of it, While I dont doubt Coolshoes's experience I would be wary of any repair that doesnt address the actual problem.

 

The problem I encounter the most is if i try to launch hard.. 3 grand or so and slip the clutch the damn thing will get stuck in the slip position and not return all the way to the top so i have to grab second real quick... that clutch smell always makes me cringe

I took the return spring out and no more play in the pedal !!! The clutch feels way better with faster actuation, Thanks for the tip.

 

Guys my return spring broke in half on it's own six or so months ago. Not a big deal a $7 dollar part, but I have not gotten around to replacing it. Everything works fine, but as MAVEN pointed out this is not what is causing the pedal sticking issue. Keep researching. There are great threads on this at Z06vette.com. Tough photo to take . . . if you look under the pedal it is very obvious and is removed with a simple screwdriver . . . took it off my C6 just because it did not feel like a real clutch with the spring on.

 

At the risk of the original post being older... for those who have pulled the spring out and left it off - what are the long term results?

I am in the same boat with my 2001 Z06 (55k miles) clutch pedal sticking to the floor. I do not mind spending the money on some of the other possible causes if I need to but do not want to do so unnecessarily.
