I have just put a 383 stroker in my 79 and I don't think my tach is accurate. Do you think I should get it recalibrated or buy an aftermarket one with a shift light? Yes the car is driven at some local track days and I sure don't want to harm the engine Thanks for any advice

Borrow an aftermarket tach from someone and slave it in- compare the two and see what you get.

On the flip side, if the only thing you did was swap engines, and the tach was OK before no reason to think it's off now. It maybe the engine sounds different and that's whats messing with your coconut.

I have to be careful riding my Harley- the new one has a 6 speed trans the old one was 5. I keep trying to run the new one in 6th at the same sound the old one had- problem is, that sound in 6th is someplace close to 85 MPH.
