TCS Light Comes on /with RT Turn signal

I need some help with a TCS Light issue I'm having. I have replaced all lights on my car with with LED lights. Full replacement of Head lights, Tail lights, Running lights, Fog lights, plate light, backup lights. I was getting the TCS light/ Active Handling message until I went and put two of the 50w / 6 ohm resistors on my tail light assemblies. One on my LT LIGHT (YELLOW WIRE TO GND) and the other to the RT LIGHT (GREEN WIRE TO GND). this fixed my original problem with my TCS Light. No more light able to reset code. Then I was driving and noticed my light came back on , I was able to reset it while driving. I finally found it was coming on when I turned on my RT TURN SIGNAL ON. (The LT TURN SIGNAL WAS FINE) Can anyone tell me what could be the cause of this ? My RT TURN SIGNAL and not the left turn signal. Does anyone have any Ideas? please feel free to help me take a crack at it. I'll let you know if I find a FIX for it. Thanks CM......

The firs thing to do is pull the codes and see what if anything is coming up. Did the TCS light come on the first time you used the signal or was it a while. Also what year?

My car is a 2004 C5 , It was throwing a c1295 code on start up or Key to on position until I put the resistors on the tail lights. The TCS light went out until I found it came on when I put the right blinker on. Then the TCS light (little car with wiggly lines under it) would come back on my dash again. seems the emergency flash lights does not trigger it, just the right turn signal when turned on... ???
Welcome to DC C Monster. Did you use canbus style LEDs?
I'm stumped. Somebody might have some ideas. My only suggestion is to just don't make any right hand turns
OK , I was wrong on my first message, The TCS Light does come on when I hit my emergency flashers , and of course when I put my Right Turn signal on. Could it be a bad emergency flasher switch ? or turn signal switch? I checked under the car for bad connector coming from the tail lights, Everything looked good there. any Ideas? CM........
Thanks Torch on the don't make any right turns, I thought about!! LOL
Hey Triple dizzle, the only canbus style bulb I used was my back up lights, I had to get the ones with the round bottom so it would fit the socket. They seem to work fine.. no problem...
Hay C Monster does the C5 indicate when a light is out on the instrument cluster? If so you have a canbus system and need to run that style LED in any Circuit it monitors. Then there will be no need for resistor. But as far as this effecting the TCS light I have no clue. I ran into this issue on an 03 thunderbird I used to own. Not the TSC but it indicating I had a light out.
I tell you I have never seen a problem like this, now when I turn on my Right Turn signal, my fog lights, right side marker light, dash lights , door button light , , auto enviroment control all blink. Flash I need a layout of the CKT. I'm tired///
Take resistors out and go back to old lights and see what happens. That’s where I’d start.
ok , I fixed the craziness that was going on. one of my resistors melted the tail light wire and was grounding out on the resistor housing , I made a steel bracket for it , retaped everything and now everything is working fine. I'm still getting a TCS light but only after driving it with the lights on for a while/ I think the heat factor on the resisitors might have something to do with. I only have Two resistors installed on my tail lights right now . One on the Left and other on the right. I'm going to try to install resistors on the other two lights to see what happens. So all four tail lights will be covered, I'll let you know what happens after the install... Stay tuned .....Thanks everyone.... for your input.....CM
Load resistors negate the whole point and purpose of LED lighting. Mainly because they create an equal draw to a regular light bulb but just without all the life expectancy.

But Wait! This guy thought that LEDs are supposed to last a million hours. Well, in a lab with like 0% distortion in the power and ground and at a controlled temp. In the absolute best conditions ya maybe someone can get an LED to last that long. In a car, however, with constantly varying voltage from the rpm changing alternator and all the spikes from all the collapsing fields from the relays opening and closing as a car runs, and the temperatures of the engine bay, the exhaust, and other nearby light bulbs all make sure LEDs are the most unreliable thing to have in a car.

The manufacturers that have LEDs are using filtered signals to drive the LEDs. You can not create this on your old car. These circuits are noteable as coming directly from a controller and not being wired through a switch. These circuits care about current flow to the point that you can not add another light to one of these circuits as the controller will see the extra flow and shut down the circuit.

If you want lighting that lasts you should check out Sylvania Silverstar bulbs. And set them in their sockets with some dielectric grease for moisture protection and also to help wick heat away from the contact points where the socket meets the bulb.

If you want to make your LED light bulbs work in your C5 you need remove the load resistors as they are a fire hazard AT BEST. And install a digital or electronic flasher relay. This relay looks at time for flashing the lights and not load. For C5 the flasher relay comes with a sub harness and will plug in behind the dash and just underneath the ignition lock cylinder.

About your TCS code 1295. This code is telling you the brake light switch is open. This can be caused by one of two things. First this might be just that, a failed brake light switch. That is a very easy thing to change. And they are cheap. Having a short to ground from a failing load resistor tied to a brake light bulb could certainly hurt the contacts in a brake light switch. So there is that.

Also The brake light circuit gets run through the hazard light switch. This is because the turn signals are tied to the brake light. The bulbs in the back of the car have low and high. Low is marker lights. And high is the stop/turn. And the turn signals and flashers will just interrupt the brake light signal to make the high side of the bulb flash when you are stepping on the brake. While these contacts can also be hurt by a short to ground at a bulb these hazard light switches for C5 have a failure rate to them. You must unbolt and lift the dash pad to get this switch out of your car. There is information on this to be found on Youtube if you need direction on this.

And finally for whatever it is worth the electronic flasher for C5, this guy right here: Amazon.com: Corvette Envy C5 Corvette Hyper Flash Fix/Signal Fix/LED Bypass Hyper Flash Harness : Automotive does not plug in directly to the hazard switch. It does have the same connector. But the hazard switch has a small sub harness that leads down to a connection with the same connector just under the ignition switch. This is where this relay plugs in at. You Do NOT have to remove the hazard switch or lift the dash pad to install this relay. You should only have to remove the lower knee bolster on the driver side. Good luck and let us know how it all goes.

Hey thanks for the info autowiz , good info, I tried the resistors on all lights , One on each , so 4 all together, It had no change in the operation of the lights, so I removed two of them.. I noticed the resistor on the passenger side tail light was the only one that heated up during operation, The left didn't even get warm.. So I'm going to try to replace the 50W / 6 Ohm resistors with a 100W / 7 OHM resistor and see if I can change the heat coefficient in the CKT . Just to see what happens. I'll let ya'll know what I find. I am running a Flasher Harness and Two Tail resistors , I'll let you what happens ,stay tuned.......CM
