Actually - NO THANKS

You know...we have already been trying to figure out how to shave out a bit of the monthly budget...then we get the October surprise.

Thanks to all the nice new manditory benefits added to my policy...it went up. Who would have figured that???

Looks like I may not get to keep my doctor either, because we will need to switch plans and take a great deal of OOP risk and the current doctor may not accept the other plan. Another promise broken...eh?

So...we are $732 extra dollars thanks to the Big O and his manipulation of the healthcare industry.

Did I mention my wife is out of work - and has been for a year?

Buddy of mine was telling the same thing happened to him. His co-pay for emergency room visits went from $100 to $300 -per visit.

I feel your pain. I just got my notice of premium increase. 5% this year, was 0% last year, and 'up to 22% increase next year'.

One can only hope the pubs take the house and senate and do as they pledged and work to defund then repeal Obamacare until 2012 when it can be repealed if a pub supermajority comes inot power.

I personallly think a way to decrease health care costs and a way to cover those that can't on their own should be provided, but this current mess just makes things hopelessly more complicated, much more expensive, and makes the medical treatment establishment more anemic.

It's not Obama's fualt entirely, it's the whole progressive democratic congress that shoved this monstrosity through without any bi-partisan implementation. Not enough good ideas and too many bad ones.

Oh, and don't you just love the new Andy Griffith comercial?

You should see the new flyer I just recieved from Sebelius regarding medicare...

I'm right there with ya. I'm self employed and pay for my own insurance. Starting this month my premium jumped roughly 22% from what it has been. This covers my wife, my son and myself.

My wife is a teacher and her health care went up dramatically as well. Fortunately Texas is one of the states that is working to distance themselves from the mandated socialistic health care law. She was told by her school district that when Texas does separate from the O-Care law, her premiums will go back down.

Jill and I are self-employed Realtors and only received and 11% increase from Blue Cross-Blue Shield. We also had coverage limits removed..

Seems reasonable to me..

They have, but Obamacare was going to stop all that. There's a reason nearly 70% of the country didn't want it. This must be one of the reasons.
Obamacare was going to stop all premium increases?? I don't think that is possible, keep them reasonable maybe , as in my case..

Does 70% of the Country approve of Medicare??

Did you even follow the plan as it was crafted? Obamacare had three main goals:

1. Provide health insurance to all Americans.... it failed

2. Reduce insurance costs for individuals, businesses, and government.... it failed

3. Increase the quality of healthcare and the value received for each dollar of spending.... jury is still out but all signs point to failing.

I would say many people are against medicare because in many cases it is worse than the coverage people had prior to being forced into it. I haven't looked into how many people disapprove of it simply because I'm not as close to being forced into it as you are.

Sorry, but I don't think an 11% increase is justified. Mine was going to be 20% until we switched companies and now i have to change doctors. I'm certainly not able to charge that much of an increase every year.

I'll be lucky to live long enough to be forced into it.

All independant analysis I have read points to it being a failure and the main reason given is it's cost and lack of coverage. I certainly don't want to wait another 5 or 10 years to see how bad it actually is. While the fundamentals of the idea were sound the end product simply can not produce the promised result.

The plan is not in place now, only the rate hikes and regulations payouts do not begin until 2012 (gee I wonder why that year is important)

I wonder how well other Government programs ran when first implimented ?

I don't believe that this will be repealed after November, so let's hope it can be modified by BOTH parties and can do some good.

You'll be REALLY crabby at 90..:thud:

These increases have been happening every year.
I wonder if there is a graph available that would show the rate of increased HC costs over the last few decades.

Seems like rate hikes the last ten years or so have been more frequent than previously but, I may be wrong about that.

Usually once a year, and for age bracket changes also. You're still young, not a big risk to them yet..
