That's a bad sign.

Any decrease in e-mail must be looked at rather suspect... because if your upstream ISP is doing filtering for you... filters aren't perfect and you certainly will be losing VALID e-mails here and there.

I do all my spam filtering locally... I hate lookin' at them but I don't want to miss an important e-mail because of some fancy algorythm.

I haven't seen any real change in spam over the last month or so. About 100-150 a day in my main account.

Spam really sucks. I spend a lot of time getting rid of it.

Patrick,
Do you send them back as undeliverable or perhaps attach a surprise to the return? The undeliverable really reduced my spam to almost nothing. The others just wish they hadn't. :)

Never really felt the ROE was there. You really think it made a difference?

It seems to have. It just an extra click to bounce one but then I don't use my email at the porn sites. :D

Interesting question. The IT minions in my office insist that sending back an email "undeliverable" just validates for the spammer that they have reached a good email address; and that "could" increase the amount of spam you'd get, not decrease it. I'm no genius in this area. Are there any IT guys here that can verify this theory?

I dont know what the hell happened. But I was getting 100+ junk mails a day, from about 5 or 10. And it has seemed to stop. YEA!!! Knock on wood
Same thing here. No more 73KB emails. That was the size of everyone of them.

If the spam came from a maintained list it should get removed. The undeliverable is just that, there is not a valid addy to be delivered to. Return to sender (such as "mailbox full or attachment too long") is something else.

I have over 5000 spam in my spam Gmail account. Most of my regular emails are the DC updates.
