I am impressed with you guys who can manipulate images in Photoshop. I bought the software, bought the book Adobe Photoshop For the Profoundly Learning Disabled, worked through all the examples and every image I try to enhance (contrast, color balance, clone-tool, etc) comes out looking like a pre-schooler's first Crayola session.

It must be in the genes.

Well done.

I cheat!!!!!!!!

My dad did some earlier architectural design. My mom was an artist. I've been drawing before I had a memory, and have never stopped (so, 30+ years of drawing.). Then I got into drafting in high school, then ink illustration, and airbrush.

After high school I got into multimedia ... Beril Prismacolor markers (and colored pencils) plus water color, oils and acrylics. Then I just did sketches with pencils for some time.

But, then my son got the bug when he was 3 years old, so I've been drawing and creating with him for 7 years (he's a great artist). So, we draw quite a bit.

I didn't get much into computer graphics early on because the tools were weak and it was easier to design a house on paper.

Then, software got it's act together, now I do nearly all of my own stuff on computer.

It's not as much KNOWING photochop or PSP. Much like a Ferrari... you can get one.... no guarantees you can handle it.

That said, i HAVE come across some people with little artistic background do some really good stuff.

Practice practice practice! It's certainly not something you will learn in months.... to be killer I think most would need a 3-5 year committment to practicing.
