The basic suspension will carry over from the GT500
This line just about sums up the car. It should be noted that the suspension in the gt500 is basically the same as the basic mustang. They are getting more ponnies out of an antiquated and heavy car. Apparently they are putting a lower ratio in the rear diff which will only aid in ripping the rear donuts into little particals of burnt rubber that much faster. It would make for a great show, but orsepower and torque is only good if it makes you go forward. :smack

Enough bashing on ford for one post...but its soooo easy and fun.

Ya I hate mustangs. The whole point it to add power and then adjust for it. Wow they gave it bigger rotors, wait those stop you so that did not do a dam thing.:rolling:

Not only that but the fact that Ford always misses the mark on pricepoint for thier 'supercars'. Look, if the ford GT was running 65k like the Mustang Saleen then 'we'd be in trouble houston', BUT they made it and sold it for 375k. I have little doubt that the shelby dot dot dot 500KRstv supermag car will priced out of the cost-per-horsepower mustang market which is the only thing going for ford. Hence the reason why their stock is slipping madly.

I guess the mustang crowd have not noticed that when chevy brought out the C6 and the C6 Z06 they had quit competing with Ford. They are going after the imported sports cars. They have the power and handling and in 2008 I feel there going to go after the interior BLING. I'm happy with the power and handling, don't really care about the interior but it appearers a lot of people do.

Ok, back to the lecture at hand.....Iam wondering if all of the componentry on the gt500kr is upgraded in correlation with the HP and TQ increases if this thing could actually no get smoked too badly by the Z?

For the record, I like the KR and have always loved Saleens, but they plain and simply have NOTHING on a Vette.

What is going through the guys at Ford's head? ok so now we're going to have a 725hp dumptruck roaming the streets. Its good they're putting on bigger brakes, but they better be capable of stopping a 2ton heap, that is the mustang.

The better brakes are so when something breaks , the driver can pull over and stop. Whats next for the Mustang? A Shelby-Super-Duper-King-of-the-Road-GT-1000 with 900HP and stock GT parts otherwise?

hmmmm im gonna say that thing will probably run hard....a superstar at the 'ring maybe not but on the streets it will be a force to reckon with if you see one, hell i never lost on the street with my old '03 Cobra let alone this thing coming out. thinking here is it a Corvette hmmmm no but i have to laugh at people trying to laugh at or poke fun at Ford for their Mustangs funny thing is GM could add their Camaro and Firebird sales together then X2 plus add in thier Vette sales and they still might not have outsold that "junk" Pony. People on the internet amaze me especially old grey hairs who dont race thier cars mostly benchrace and talk about what they thought was fast (which wasnt by the way) 40 yrs ago. BTW im sure GM could only dream to make the money and sales Ford has on its Mustangs.

Ford isn't making any money. The two Fords I have owned were unreliable and overly expensive to repair. That's only one of Ford's many problems. Maybe selling 1000 of these super duper mustangs at $150k a piece will help the company out :smack

Put whatever you want into the Mustang

I'm sure this new package has the mustang crowd excited , finally something that they think can compete with the Corvette ZO6 . Well , let's see ... I race Mustangs 0.001 % of the time and I enjoy driving my Corvette the other 99.999 % of the time . So , I really don't care what this new model has . The Corvette IMO is a much better overall performance machine and has more visual beauty than the Stang . Ford can put 900 hp in their car and I will still choose the Corvette . Enough said . Larry

I'll take a Z hands down but I'm also smart enough to realize there are other fun cars on the road and I wouldn't hesitate for one millisecond to take that pony for a ride at full gallop

I'm sure the GT500xyzwhatever will be fast on the track, 1/8 or 1/4 or wherever it lines up but at the end of the day its still a mass produced mustang that shares its beginnings with a base v6 little pony mustang which is what the majority of them will be. The GT500 that came out with 500 horsepower still couldnt match the timeslips of the "base" C6 which had a mere 400 hp in the LS2, let alone the 505 hp beast Z06.

If you put the right blower on a pinto you could probably make it run in the 9's, but at the end of the day its still a pinto.

No thanks i will take the vette any day. Beauty and style rank somewhere up there with heritage and performance.

I like the car, but it and the Z are in two (2) separate leagues.
They need to go after the Camaro.
