Well i found a black 01 z06 with 50k on her at the local dealership.

just have a few questions:

how good of a daily driver will she be?

can i at least drive it through the first winter provided i throw on some winter tires and rims?

seems to be a good deal at 25k what do you think?

Not a bad deal but . . . I would let my '02 Z go for $30K. Blk/Blk with 29K miles on her. Mallett shifter, Carbon fiber Air intake. I'm in Northern Indiana and don't have the car listed but I'm serious. about the winter tires all I can say is it would be tough. I know/live with the kind of snow you get and could not even imagine driving my Z in the white stuff. Could it work? Maybe. Should you do it? Def. NO IMO.

You can find a much better Z for around the same price. Probably a newer model year with less miles. Also I believe the 01 had a problem burning oil.

Lastly, NO WAY would I ever drive in the snow. The car is too low. I got caught in a dusting one day and it took me 45 minutes to get into my garage. A DUSTING. :smack

My exprerience in the snow....not fun.

As far as a daily driver, mine is, and I love it. I bought in Oct 04 with 9500mi, it has ~ 47000 today. I say go for it, if it's a good deal. The price sound ok.

Yes some of the 01's had oil consumption problems but could be repaired under warranty. With 50k on her, either the previous owner had it fixed, or it never had the problem. Get the VIN# and call a local Chevy dealer and they can tell you if it's been done or not.

I think i decided to stay away from a z06, at least for now, the one i looked at had it all done under warranty(oil problems), and is in great shape, I was hoping to be able to get in on snows and get through a winter, but thats not going to happen.

Next spring will be when i get one, i am sad for now, but would hate to rag on this car all winter long.

Thanks for the advice, you guys helped to make a tough decision a lot easier.

Vincent77, find you an older Jeep cherokee or grand cherokee, like 93-98 for your second vehicle, there is a ton of them out there cheap. Im selling my 93 grand to a friend for $1500 to help afford the vette I will get (soon as I can figure out what I want, thats the hardest part.)

an 01 w 50k on the clock for 25 isn't bad at all. I bought my 02 w 35k on her for 29k in sept. sounds like a reasonable price. perhaps you could talk em down a bit. Most of the guys on here shop for steals as everyone should, but IMO 25k is a good starting point for an 01. good luck!

Hey southern06 that is the best price i have heard of with that kind of low mileage what gives the mileage sounds kind of low?
Just one of those good finds i guess! Came from a wealthy guy out in the country...I did a carfax on it and it hasn't been touched since 01 and rarely driven since. Had an 04 brake tag when I got it in March! Just couldn't pass it up.
