Yup, the Horsepower bug hit me big time... earlier today one of those mid-engine monstrosity Ford GT's flew by me on I-75 here in South Ohio, and with a menacing grin I thought to myself 'You know what, Mike... you can beat that guy easy if you add a few mods:laughing: '

so, the next logical step in my mod progress is a set of Long Tube headers. I've been researching LG and Kooks a bit, and am trying to decide between the two, I'll save that thread for another time though.

The big question is whether to get the Cats or order the ($300 cheaper) off-road package.

So to all those out there in the know, should I get Cats or not? How much does it really affect the emissions, and can I get caught for it?

Thanks!

Mike:thumbsup:

Cats are for old ladies who live alone.

Hey patrick, When you had your system put on, did it through codes right away? I thought the sims was suppose to stop that. Also why did you go with the streets over the pro's. Just curious, I don't know mutch about it. I'm trying to read all that I can on it. Thanks for any Info.

Not immediately, but the same day.

I didn't go that route, I simply had my tuner delete them.

They were cheaper.

So I take it you dont have a check engin light or codes any more? I'm leaning towards the streets myself. For the price of the pros, I can get the streets and the ls6 intake I need.

Well, it is against Federal Law to either remover OR replace functioning cats, and a $25,000 fine plus 5 years in the joint--probably have that Enron guy as a roommate...:spanked: CO is talking about going back to emissions testing, so you'd need it here like many other states. It definitely will not pass emissions without cats. They're the key to the whole system nowadays. If you'll be in a state where you need them, what a pita to put them back on. Compromise is the aftermarket hi-flows. Not strictly legal, but unless you are really unlucky, should be ok, will pass e-check, and give you some hp over stock units. Your call--I'd go with them.

I can always count on you for great advice! I'll shell out the extra $300 and avoid the Enron bunkmate

How did your daughter like good ol' USAFA? Is she considering going to the blue zoo?

She loved it. Already graduated from college a year ago, wants to go to Seminary to become a minister. Still, lots of cute guys at the Academy so she wants to visit again! I've suggested joining up via OTS and then letting the AF foot the bill for Theological school. She is considering it--even more cute guys in that case!
