So it is definitely time to take the top off considering the weather is beautiful. I first looked at taking it off last week and saw there are 8 torx bits to take off the top?! why so many? can I roll around with 4 in just for the summer for quicker taking off and putting on? thanks!

I've never heard of any C4 having more than four, two in the rear halo and two right under the sunvisor. Where do you have another four?

I think you're counting the two bolts that surround the release bolt on the back. You only loosen the two on the back (the ones in the middle). There should be a plastic retainer that captures the rear bolts in place (in the top).

The front ones are captured in the windshield surround. I loosen all four just a bit, then go back to the fronts and loosen them until I feel them release the top. Then I go back to the back ones and loosen them until the top is released. Be careful not to loose the plastic capturing devices that keep them in the top - those are very hard to find!

If you loosen up the two bolts on either side of the rear release bolt, and then take out the top, you'll probably wind up having to adjust the top.

PM me if you have more questions.

There are only 4. Take a closer look at the one of the groups of 3 that are holding the back on. The outside two bolts are to secure the bracket to the top. The center bolt is holding the bracket to the car. You only need to remove the center bolt.

I didnt notice any shaking and I got on the highway and everything, my little terrier loved that ride by the way haha. Oh and I also bought the vent latch on ecklers, I think it was like 20 bucks, I cant decide if it looks ok but really I dont care because after putting it on my drive was much more enjoyable due to how much cooler I was driving (temperature wise) without it the car just feels kinda stuffy

mine shakes but it is not caused by the top being out . mines the front end ball joints and probably everything else that goes with it. but i think if it was fixed i don't think it would shake

I generally only notice a difference between top on and top on for a few miles. At that point, I guess I just get used to it, and then I'm fine.

Mine does have a few extra squeaks and rattles with the top out, but I don't really care - it's just too much fun to worry about things like that!
