I entered a show yesterday "shine and show" and quess what up pulls 3 trailer queens. Man how can you compete with trailer queens. Not to take anything from the cars 67,63,64 they were beautiful. But give us drivers a break. They've got to start catagories for trailer queens. Its almost impossible to compete with some of them. Just had to vent.
this is how I feel about trailer queens :toilet

I was at the Foothills show years ago in upstate N.Y. A traler queen had won best of show and second place challanged him to start the car which was one of the rules. It would't start so he lost. He said he wouldn't ever show the car again, and he didn't, he drove it.
It was one of the best 63-67 cars I ever saw. I had a 67 marlboro, maroon, saddle roadster.

I understand where you are coming from and they should have a seperate categories for the trailer queens.

But also I just bought my first trailer for the 65. The reason for me is if I drive more then a day away I want a place to lock it up. I would hate to come out and find it gone(not many hotels rent garages too). More likely would be that I would be up all night worried about it and then fall asleep driving it the next day. But believe me, mine will get the road time. I can't imagine spending that kind of money and then have it sit in the garage.

I've been to a few shows that have separate categories for "driven" and "trailered" vehicles.

I've even seen shows where there's actually a small road course, and when it comes judging time, those that actually drove have a point edge over those that didn't.

Age Old Argument

I've been driving, racing & showing my '66 vette since I bought it new and this argument has been around as long (longer) as that.
No matter what rules you add to try and make it fair for the little street guys, there will always be a 'gold chainer' who will try to find a way around it just so he can bag another trophy to try and make all his 'money' (not BS&T) seem to pay off.
Know that you did the best you could with your street ride and you get to enjoy yours! On a very few occations, I've spent days getting my street driven car ready for a really special big event (national level) and I've driven it there. I've also trailered it to some events cause it's so much easier to keep it clean for the show, but have put it on the track later for the autocross solo events or drags. It's a hard call. that is exactly the reason i stopped showing my cars, i drive them! it seemed every week the same cars were winning and your right adfter the show they would load them up cover them and trailer them home with a new trophy. god bless them the cars were a sight but to me its not a win when they playing field is not level.

we were at one show and we entered our camaro drag car that is still in working process and we took second place to a el camino that was 99.9% completed. the only thing the el camino had not finished was a ctr console
lid! the owner of the el camino entered the "project class" what a sand bagger. when he won first place we disputed the votes and the judges recalled his first place and awarded first place to us! we did not care about the bigger trophy but we do care about people entering classes that dont fit.

also if the car dont start then it cant show...do ya'll agree

personally I've never entered an event!

but if I'd spent a couple of days detailing prior....I'd seriosly consider a trailer
and save the heart ache of redoing!

I'd defenatley be driving it home though!

but I guess this isn't what your talking about:thumbsup:

BTW awsome 72.......I'll pay that one, much better than your first attempt:D

Im with you guys. Cars of all types and makes throughout the ages were created to be driven (Or even better, to race). If you want something beautiful that will increase in value by a painting or sculpture. Leave the cars to us!

I love watching the pebble beach parade of cars as they drive to the golf course. Every show should require a short drive.

Anyone selling a car trailer PM me. I don't show my car but would like a trailer to tow to the track. Last time my car broke down in College Station on a track weekend I had to stay over and let a local dealer work on my car to get it home.

When I go to shows I always classify my car as "display only." I never leave pissed off or upset that way.
