Ran into a guy with a C6 and the 6sp. manual at a gas station.

He had long tubes, an intake and a cat back and no, I do not know what brands. I told him he needed a proper tune and he said it was a rip off so I offered to run him from 50 to 120 in 4th gear to let him see the WOT difference and I told him that the under the WOT was even better. He asked what I thought would happen and I told him I expected a few lengths on him. He was very doubtful.

Make a long story short by 100 I could see him the rear view mirror and kept just pulling away.

We pulled over and he did to and we chatted and is now a believer - proper tunes work.

Glad to see he show'd you so respect... and also that you pulled back over to talk to him about it, really classy!

Do you think the a bone stocker will get the same dramatic result?
A fine tune over GM's "safe for all car" tunes will give you results you can definitely feel.
If you can burn 93 octane all the time, you can tune it for even more power.

In actuality it had nothing to do with a kill; it was supposed to demonstrate the gains from a tune. No more and no less but he became a believer. I also told him about DC and he said he didn't like forums because of egos.

All of us have one the only difference with DC is we do not allow insults or the mine is better syndrome . . . I think he joined but really do not know.

There is a very critical discussion going on over at CF in reference to Z51 emblems.

I came from an EVO MR and tuning is the single most important thing you can do to improve power in those cars. Particularly if you are going to ad mods like exhaust, cams, bigger injectors, bigger turbo, etc. It used to be you had to use piggyback computers or stand alone ECUs to do this tuning although lately I hear they've come up with software and hardware to tune the stock computers....
Now I'm the proud owner of a C6 and I'm interested in the tuning aspects of these cars. How can one tune the ecu? Does it take some kind of piggyback computer or is there some way to hack into the stock computer? Also, what does the tuning do to youre warranty?

Thanks for you input!

I put in the Diablo Predator tune, with B&B Bullets, K&N Aircharger and opening the shroud to get only outside air to the filter. The tool leans the AFR to make 20 hp, per their claim. It is also adjustable for many parameters. Plus, it gives you a scan tool and limited data logging. For $320, I'm pleased with it, and uploaded to the ECM couldn't be easier. There is a definite improvement sop at wot in 1-3rd. I'm not sure what contributes--probably all of the above. To feel that sop improvement, I would guess 25-35 net hp gain. For the $1450 I paid, I'm happy with the results.
