Has anybody ever replaced their turn signal lever?

Since Ive owned my Vette (6+ years now) my turn signal wont lock into the left position. When you turn the right signal on the lever locks and the blinker stays on, but for the left you have to hold the lever down.

Would this problem simply be a bad lever? How are they to replace?... Im not to keen on tearing into my steering column:huh:

Sounds more like the switch plate inside the column rather than the lever itself. Broken plate or loose screws allowing the plate to move a little out of position can cause this.

Kevin,

Mine had the same problem. It was the switch in my case. It is about the same amount of work to get to the lever screw to tighten it as it is to change the whole directional signal switch. That is unless they made major changes to the column from '69 to '80.
