Two Valentine's died

I have two V1's and they are great.

Anyone who has one knows where the test sites are, that is the places that always make the detector go off. The one in the truck stopped working and I sent it back with the check for repair and it was repaired and updated promptly and free: cool.

A few week ago the one in the Vette went belly up while going to a funeral in Indy and I was nicked; sent this one off to Valentine and they graciously fixed it too. Just wondering if there is a problem or if it is something unknown.

Then it hit me: I usually mount the things right over the dash outlets for the defroster that always has a tad of heat coming out of it and I do not think that this has helped the longevity. I have since moved them a bit to avoid this area; anyone else have a similar problem?

Otherwise the service is great and fast and the units picks up everything and have saved me many times.

Just wondering if I have had two flukes: my Passports were always dying on me and that was a fairly well known phenomenon.

We use the mirror mount on both Vettes and have never had a V1 die. We have sent them back for updating which is alway done very promptly.

I have two and both are fine:D
Did they say what the problem could have been to cause this?
Keep all electronics including your V1 out of the heat and sunlight.

The V1 is going to produce heat on its own so if you have heat blowing into it, this could cause it to fail.

Temperature Range: Operating: -20°C to +70°C (-4°F to +158°F)
Storage: -30°C to +85°C (-22°F to +185°F)
I have had 4 over the last 15 years and never a problem.
