I do not need high performance or racing tires. I would I prefer a higher mileage tire. I found Continentals for the rear.Ii am not a brand specific person.
I drive the Vette for enjoyment.
Yvette05 and the rest of the responders, new tires for a C5Z06 has been a problem almost since the car came out. I bought my ‘02 in 2011 and wanted to put new tires on in 2012 after I went on a long trip and did an HPDE with them. I HATE the GY tires. I replaced them with Vredestien Ultrac Sessanta’s which were great. Size was 275/295 because at that time there were only 3 tire MFR making the proper combo, GY, Michelin and Bridgestone. I didn’t think the size difference would be too much of a problem and a good friend had the Vredestiens, loved them and they had a GREAT tread pattern very similar to the old Gatorback. I managed to barely remain inside the stagger spec.
I took a not well thought out hiatus from C5’s for about 18 months and when I came back I bought a base coupe. Since it had original tires and 2 cracked wheels I switched to new wheels in C5Z sizes. At this point the idea of a 265/295 matched set was ancient history. This time I put 255 on front, (and 295) Continental DWS06 since I drive year round . Great tires, work well even on an AutoX track. I know of many who have done the same, some even go to 245 in front.
The best place to research tire size as well as offsets is tiresize.com, you get visual as well statistical results.
My opinion is that the 255 works out better than the 275. I found, in low speed maneuvers on a track, the 275 felt a little ‘heavy’. The 255’s show none of that.
So, now if you look for a 255/295 combo, you will find a decent variety to choose from.
