I don't get it. Doesn't the cost of the diesel engine and install offset any fuel economy savings? It sounds like he only drives the car about 3K miles per year.
How many miles would it take to break even in terms of fuel cost savings vs. cost of the conversion?
I forgot that car existed! I've seen a C3 converted to FWD 4 cyl as well, complete with slow moving vehicle sign on the back. Some people are nuts. 48mpg is alright, but I'll stick with 1/2 that and twice the fun.
