Upgrading to a C5

Hello, I presently have a 1995 6 speed coupe. I am looking to upgrade to a C5. I am thinking about 2000 and newer. Are there any differences between the 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004 models. They look pretty much the same, but are there any differences that I should look for. Thanks for you help.

Not a whole lot. A few horse power, and a couple of creature comforts on the Coupe and Roadster. Of course there are sizable performance differences between those and Z06.

You nailed it. I went from a 1995 to a 01 Z06... I loved the C4 solid fun car but the Z is just AWSOME!
I believe 2001 and later have the ls6 intake manifold on them and bigger mass air flow and throttle body. also the air box opening was made larger. I have a 2000 C5 and I absolutly love it. hope this helps
People generally say in situations like this, "buy the newest lowest mileage car in the best condition that you can afford". I totally agree with that advice. That said keep your color choices in mind, like my medium spiral gray metallic was only available in 03-04, or the beautiful electron blue was available for a couple of years (i think 02-03 but not too sure) and so on.

If your looking for a Z06 there was more power to be had in the 02-04 models then the 01 model. Either way if your looking at a C5 they range anywhere from 345 horsepower (97 coupe) to 405 horse (02 and later z06). I think the 01 z06 had 385 horse and the 2000 or 2001 and later coupes had 350 horse and more torque depending on which transmission. Someone please correct me if i am wrong.

Best of luck and enjoy your search!

:agree: on everything said so far

One question though, how much money you're looking to spend?
Are you trading in, buying from a dealer, or where's one available?

There are good deals to be had right now. I bought my 02 Z06 with 30k miles for $30k two years ago, the same car right now is probably easily in the $20's
Thanks for all your help, I just purchased a 2000 coupe. I love it. I am selling my 1995 coupe.
If that is it in your avatar ,thats a nice lookin ride.posts some pics
Damn you don't play around 6 days from looking to buying. Congrats on the new ride. Let's see some pics of that bad boy.
I have to take some pictures with a smaller file size. The car is Arctic white with black and gray interior. It has 39,000 miles on it too. It is very clean. If anyone is interested I am selling my 95 coupe.
