Shouldn't your motor run bad with a vacuum leak? If I pull a vacuum hose from the intake the motor idles higher and seems to run better and it does the same thing when I pump the brakes. Is something wrong?

It could be that you are running rich and by pulling the vacuum line you get a better air fuel ratio. I don't know about the power brake though. It could be you have a leak there.

How big is your carb and your engine. If your carb is tryin to pull down too many CFM for your engine you will have low vacume draw, especialy at idle. I had that problem on my camaro. Ran great at 4k RPM but at idle it was terrible.

I have a 350 4 bolt main with a hot cam, holley 750 double pump with manual secondaries, edelbrock performer rpm intake, 1.94 heads, edelbrock gear drive timing, k&n filter, accel hei distributor, accel 8mm wires, and rapid fire plugs.
It's been running very well, and it has a lot of vacuum
I'm going to leave the carb as it is since I'm getting my 383 in a couple of months.
