With all the net sites over vettes, we need to collectively organize and invite every vette person on the net to a VETTE OFF, chip in say 20 bux each, and have a 3-4 day fling on some co operating track/motorsports complex, to involve oval track (NASCAR), SCCA type, Drags, and somehow compute through some fair points counts.... the overall winners....

with class winners too....C1-C6......

OH, you gotta run what you brung....no trailers, no shipping except across oceans....hit port, fire it up, and start for the location....

Bring it to the line, gentlemen....bring it to the line....NO pro drivers allowed...
However any shops can enter, Lingy/etc....but no pro drivers...

OH, I"m guessing at 20 bux each so it's 100 each, whatever it takes.....

I"M saying it would be one HELL of an event...about a week's worth of entertainment....:D :D   :spanked: :smack :WTF

I have NO CLUE as to HOW, WHO, IF this is even/ever possible...

just tossing out a concept to see if there is any serious interest....

I have NO event organization experience or skills, particularly....

I have the INTEREST, but no money either to front on it....

IF someone else can get it going, fine my me...

I like it !!! mrvette is on to something here

Super Vette Shoot Out... run what you brung... No Classes!!! You break you're out

SBC vs BBC vs LSx vs Gas turbines...

Rules: No trailer cars (towing a trailer is OK) but you gotta drive there!!, No dealer Plates these things have to be registered and insured. Nothing loose, Good tires, no Leaks, no UFO's in the cockpit and a Snell 2000 Helmet/Seat belts.

Road Course/autoX Timed SCCA SOLO style.... Three Runs Best Time
Quarter mile drags... Three Runs Best ET/Top Speed
Timed road rally over a 30-50 mile loop... Closest time to speed limit for the entire distance

And maybe a....
Burn out Contest :) to break a tie

Other ideas...

Points for the longest road trip...
Brake stopping contest.... shortest distance from 100 mph wins
Idle... contest need to idle 10 minutes without overheating :rolling:
Chassis dyno shootout

Corvettes at Carlisle 2008 here we come

No top speed runs due to safety reasons but the first three would be a good safe test of capability

I like the idea but, would suggest that the format be something similar to Car Craft's "Real Street" competition where each car has to compete in a 1/4 mile drag race, a road course, braking test and I think a cruise of some specified distance to prove that the car is truly streetable.
The cars are rated on each category and then a winner is determined. I think this method would weed out some of the super high dollar race cars and keep it to a more realistic vehicle.

Cool idea; oh yeah, I think the competition would have to be grouped into separate competitions based upon a year range or bosy style (C1, C2; etc.) I think it would be a bit unfair to pit a 1968 C3 against a new Z06.

There you go, what 84/500 said, but last time I was at Carlysle was 11 years ago, I dunno they have the facilities of a motorsports park complex like Atlanta/etc to do what I have in mind....do they, by now??

dunno they even had the acreage to do that....

I would like to see say 3 laps around a NASCAR oval in there too....asking a bit much I suspect, but really it's not all that hard to drive a vette fast around there....BTDT....simple, really just gotta get used to the sky not being there, just roadbed....

OH, lets not forget autocross too....

Rockingham has a drag strip across the street from the Speedway... It's kinda short track with an infield section... Great Traction and BANKED corners....
