My first car was a 65 VW Beetle, which I pulled the body to transform it into a tube frame dunebuggy. I was 15 years old and had a little help from my Dad especially when it came to the drivetrane.
Anyway, I thought a good first car for my son would be a restored 73 Super Beetle which I found for sale nearby. Since I bought the Bug, I have found other Vette guys who are also into vintage bugs. Even a guy I work with rebuilds old bugs into dune buggies which he always turns profit with when he moves onto the next project.
The other day I get an PM from TXWayno on a VW website who is also a member here on DC. He sends me these 2 cool videos of a version of VW builds called VolksRods. I think these custom build cars are just too cool!! One day I hope to build something like this.
