The Corvair had a flat six mounted in the rear, same as Porsche and in '65/'66 a 180 hp turbochaged version was available in the Corvair Corsa

My GM friend who lives in Georgia has a 69 Corvair with a 455 Hurst Olds engine in it. The engine is in the back seat.

I love Corvairs! I see them from time to time at car shows. Cool car. I've seen a few that have been turned into race cars. NICE!

I don't have a Corvair, but I bought my teenage son a 66 Porsche 911 with a 180 HP turbocharged Corvair engine in it. Started it up this morning, fired up the first time it turned over.

Some parts of them were interchangeable with the Vette

Really could have been something but Ralf Nader killed it. Friend of mine had a candy apple red one and it was a fun car.

I seem to remember riding in a few. They could outrun VW Beetles at the time. Fuel economy wasn't really an issue in those days but I do remember it went to hell when the heater was turned on. (Gasoline fired)

In 1965 they dumped the swing arm rear suspension and used a copy of the Corvette StingRay rear suspension. With a litttle work, the 65 and later Corvairs were good handling cars. The Corsas handled good stock.

My oldest brother had a '62 Corvair. I always liked to go for rides in it as a kid. I've always wanted one since then. Truly unique.
