Went to Eckler's Rally this past weekend (that's a completly different nightmare  ) and it seems that when passing or coming along side a C5 or 6 I'll wave, and 97% just look over and won't acknowledge :WTF even 4's will sometimes try and have that 'air' . The C3, 2,and 1 drivers will wave, but it seems that the late model drivers have their noses up their butts. Could that be it? Or sometimes I like to think that anyone can go out and BUY a new 'vette, but to own a classic like we do and STILL LOOK GREAT, maybe there could be just a hint of a 'little green monster' lurking  ....any thoughts?

Well I own a C5, so let me be one of the first to :buhbye: at ya! ;)

You may find that owners of late model Vettes simply don't know the history of the wave. Therefore, they don't understand the courtesy most Vette owners extend to one another. Either that, or they are a bunch of butt holes..

Keep waving! You'll turn them eventually.

If you see me on the street, look for my gloved hand in the air.

I wave to all Corvettes. I don't care if they wave back. To me it is a salute to the other driver for being a Corvette owner.

I have driven on 281 in Texas on a beautiful spring day and passed a score of Vettes...I had a pair of couples in C5 verts wave, a C3 coupe driver not wave (looked right at me), a C6 driver not wave (in shades and too cool to acknowledge in the intersection...lol), and a C5 driver not wave as well...I have just decided that it depends on the INDIVIDUAL; not they model in which they own or simply drive as there is a difference!

For the record, I own a C5 and I acknowledge all Vetters.....

Ah, the age old "wave" question.

As I see it, no matter what generation the Vette, there will always be douchebags that are too cool to wave.

I have noticed that more often than not, the offenders are younger C5 & C6 drivers. There are a bunch of early 20's C5 drivers in my area that wouldn't wave to their own mother if she rolled by in a wheel chair. You know the type, Joe Cool. I was in my 76' once and saw a very modified C5 up ahead. I did everything I could to catch up to see what it was, and he did everything he could to loose me. He finally got stuck by a red light. It turned out to be a sweet, triple black Mallet 427. The guy wouldn't even turn his head to look in my direction.

Then there is the rest of us. I wave at vettes even when I am in my truck.

Sadly, for the most part you'll run into guys that aren't hardcore enthusiasts like most of us probably are. There are people out there that buy these cars for status and don't know the history behind them. The good news is, there's tons of us out here that will always return the wave.

Of course, down here in the south, it seems that you could probably wave at anyone and they'd wave right back, especially Vette owners.

:buhbye: Save the wave!

What you have to remember is that most c5 and up drivers simply wanted a car to show how cool they are and what there wallet can afford..C3 owners are for the most part the guys who wrench with thier blood and sweat on small budgets to keep the beauty on the road...Completely different attitudes...if a C6 owner got beat in a race they would probably sell it and try buying something faster...a C3 owner will build HIS car faster!!

This conversation is making me really want to go on a cruise (and of course wave to all my fellow vette lovers). Unfortunately the weather here in chicago is rainy with a possibility of snow tomorrow.

Last night I was driving back from the north burbs on I-94 in my DD and ran into a black c6 with a guy trying way to hard to look like a badass. He had the left arm up on the top of the wheel, the seat reclined back, and he was leaned over so far to the right he could manually adjust his side mirror. Why do people think this looks cool? It just makes them look like a douche.

THat is too funny. I had a friend who drove a used Beretta in high school. He always drove like that, and eventually, the seat wore out in that position so whoever was driving had to drive like that.

Just keep driving and waving. You can only do what you can do...show the wave. Some people won't wave, don't know to or are too slow and loose the opportunity.

I was coming up to one of my favorite corners Sunday and had dropped down through 3 gears quickly as I approached. I could see a C5 there and the guy was looking the other way, but his head started to turn as he heard me. No power steering, hands occupied, shooting through the corner, I couldn't look at him anymore as I passed in order to see where I was going. So I just flipped a quick wave as I squeaked a little rubber doing a little drift. He probably thought.."what a jerk, trying to be cool and he wasn't even looking at me". So you never know how you'll be preceived, even when you're trying to do the right thing (waving).

yes i own a 78 25th car and i am 16 years old i love my car and all other vettes any time i see other vettes i wave. in my town there are many vettes of many years. as i was driving down the road last week i saw a c6 vette down the road so i punched it to catch up 2 it and to see the vette and who was driving and it was a 30 year old women driving and i revved up my engine which my exhaust is loud and she smiled and waved and i waved back. and we dragged main together and i seen another vette a c5 vette and another women driving around her 30's and she saw me and waved and i waved back. the only time i didnt get a wave was this guy in a black 03 vette with his shades on and his hair slicked back and his left hand high on the steering wheel he looked at me and i waved and he just turned his head and kept driving thats the only time i got the shaft. blood, sweat, and tears into my corvette.

Allow me to re-post the commandments...

please notice numero uno:thumbsup:

The Corvette Commandments:

1- Thou shalt not fail to wave to a fellow Corvette owner.

2- Thou shalt not pass a fellow Corvette owner in distress without offering aid.

3- Thou shalt not feed thy Corvette budget-grade fuel.

4- Thou shalt treat thy Vette with respect; great power, great responsibility.

5- Thou shalt keep thy Corvette clean and waxed at all times, yet thou shalt not bring thy Corvette to an automatic car wash.

6- Thou shalt park thy Corvette in such a manner as to protect her tender fenders.

7- Thou shalt blow out carbon with a high-speed run as required.

8- Thou shalt not cruise on an unpaved road.

9- Neither friend, nor foe, nor even thy spouse may drive thy Corvette without first showing proper reverence.

10- Each Vette is an individual work of art; judge not lest ye might be judged.
