A friend of mine (bojvette) is replacing the tank in his 72. This part was laying on top of the tank on the drivers side. What is it?

we are wondering what goes to the top of this part? The hose on the bottom goes to the tank, but there was nothing connected to the top of it :huh:

KEEPS THE FUEL FROM GOING INTO THE CANISTER

If you have a parts book or a manual look up the fuel system and you will see that it mounte on the tank one hose to the tank one hose gos to the carbon canister.

i guess one more tonight before bed time so i can sleep tonight !! i ahve a new tank heading here overnight ups costing a left nutt but with bloomington in 2 days i needed a tank !! so cost not all that bad !!

the bottom hose goes back to the tank !! and no hose on the top maybe age lost it on me !!

thanks tim where does that top hose go ??? like all the way back to the can if it does man i cant find it !!!!!!!!!!!worked hand arm eyes just about every thing to find a hose !! sounds dumb but this is so damm odd !

after having to buy a new tank , pick up, gaskets ,filter,pads , and not the depends kind , and next day cost to get the tank to chicago , of $165.00 I will be lucky to pay for the valet parking let alone to buy the food !!!would be nice if all kind of pay for mine !!!!
