There is a guy that wants my old car really bad, now here's the question.

Should I sell it and move to a 6cyl with an auto trans or stay with the dual 4s and a 4 speed ?

Bob,

If you're hinting at a '53 or '54, I'd say keep the beauty that you have. I believe that the pressure of owning one of the originals tends to get to people and it becomes "art" or "furniture" rather than a wonderful classic "car".

Besides, a stovebolt six-banger through a slush-box PowerSlide. Wake me when we get to the end of the on-ramp.

I am looking at a 54. While they are a nice piece of history I'm not 100% sure I would be happy. I had an original 55 Nomad with a 265 and a glide and am thinking the Vette would be in the same power range. (slow)

I'm afraid if you sell it you will be unhappy and kick yourself every morning.

If you sell it, make sure he really, really, really, really, really, really wants it and has a great big fat checkbook. Lack of power is not a step forward. Just get enough to get the '54 and enough seed money to start work on another mid year

It's your car but I couldn't part with that unless there was a bunch of money involved and I had my next project lined up.
I don't think a 54 would do it for me mainly because I'm young and dumb and like to go fast. Even if it could go fast would you want to take that chance with it?

It's a good thing that the eight cylinder came along or we wouldn't have a Corvette today, to move to a 54 your into museum piece and is that what you want

I have decided it will not be a 54, maybe I will move to a 63 to 67 coupe if the price is right. Or I can just drive what I have as is. :)
