How do you know when the front bearing is "going south"? What are the symtoms? Noise? Feel? Etc?

Jack the front end up, grab tire at 3 and 9 and 12 and 6 o'clock and wiggle back and forth, if they a bolted on tight and there is movment it is most likly the Bearings.
Fronts are not that hard to do, if the rear ones are bad you might as well change out the Trailing Arms.
Hope it helps

Correct procedure, but that not necessarily mean the bearings are bad, only loose. Replacing rear bearings usually does not require replacing the trailing arm.

Any time I've had a bearing fail, I heard it.
