do you know if its a real callaway?i thought 95 was the last year.this is interesting,my next car is going to be a calloway, but if theres G.S. calloways i might have to put off that big bear chopper.question for G.S. owners.is the rear flare bolted to the fender?or is the flare the fender?hope that makes sense.im trying to see if the rear fender is wider than the stock c4?or is the whole rear clip wider like the ZR-1?.are the hash marks decals?no offense,i will remove them.
hum...calloway G.S. i like that.

I was wondering the same things that hawaii was. The 96 GS doesn’t have the vents behind the tires like that one does right? Is it a real Callaway? I have never seen a GS Callaway, but there are a lot of things I have never seen before.

That is a full Callaway body kit. Here is the front! It is a 96 GS, we believe it is the only one with a Callaway body.

The flares are glued on, I believe. The fenders are stock C4 issue.

The GS verts came from the factory w/o flares because GM felt they didn't look right so close to the vert top lid seam.

GS coupes, rear tires are 315/35's
GS conv't, rear tires are 285/40's.

I don't know that he actually pulled that boat, my guess is that he just posed with it, as I cannot see a trailer hitch on the "rear shot" above. :)

for some reason,i thought that the fenders were "worked" alittle bit,i guess not, would i be able to slam the car with 315s in the rear?i mean slammed,is your car slammed Patrick?i know its lowered at least some.my 89 was slammed and it was questionable if i could fit a 315,

Guys.... so many questions. The flares are bolted on. Only the first 15 GS's had there lips put on with double stick tape. Those vents behind the rear wheels are part of the conversion, not stock on regular GS's. Learned something I didn't know about this being the only one cause I sat right next to one while waiting in line (car line) to go to Nashville while in Bowling Green last month. He stated he had just bought it from someone in North or South Carolina and thougt he would drive it to the 50th reunion. Really cool car and we looked mighty fine setting next to each other.:D :D By the way, they did not put 315's on the back of the vert GS's because you could not put that tire anywhere in a convertable if you got a flat :surprised true

i realize the flares are for show, now i just wonder about the 315 fitting on a slammed car.reason is that within 2 years i planned on a calloway to go with the c5,i would not mind at all taking the G.S. and puttin the calloway body kit on it.then search for a twin turbo set up.and then maybe give Jessie a call,;) i will do research in the mean time to see every part i will need.thanks for replying.

This is wrong. My car (GS #007) was the first to have the flares bolted on. I'm the original owner, although it did spend time in MI since it was a Pilot car and then sold via GM auction.

I've met the owner of and saw in person GS#005. His flares are taped on only. FWIW, GS#005 is the coupe in the sales brochure. GS#006 is a convertible. GS#008 was a coupe that was at a local dealer a couple years ago. The flares were bolted in place like mine. One additional minor detail...The white stripe across the halo (c-pillar) of #008 is a sticker. On #007 and prior coupes that area is painted like the rest of the stripe

Regarding the fender flares on the 'verts mentioned in another post...They didn't install the flares because they used standard size tires, not because they didn't look right. The flares on the coupe prevent water spray since the 315s protrude ~1/4" - 1/2" beyond the edge of the fender

So Jim... how many pilot cars were there? If #1,2,5 are coupes and #3,4,6 are convertables, wouldn"t that be the pilot cars. Reason is John Heinricy states in an article that "during the first few cars we realized it was very difficult to mask the small section of the roof bow, just between the top and the rear hatch assembly for painting the stripe. We remedied that by using a white full width decal for that particular area. So, the first pilot coupes have an all painted stripe and the rest have decals in that portion of the roof bow." As for the flares...quoting from the same article.."Russ McLean was worried that the flares might fall off so we ended up drilling them and attaching them with screws also . Only the first pilot coupes have taped on flares" Now lets see...you have bolted on flares but a painted stripe in the roof bow ?

My mistake on the 15

its Call-A-way!

Hey guys, yes that car is only a Callaway body kit. It doesn't have the SNAT motor. He also has one of the Callaway Wet Vettes with a GS paint scheme as well. Both car and boat have been on Ebay in the last year. The boat just last week. I had heard he going to prison.

ok here's the deal. i know the former owner of that car. i have seen it in person multiple times. it was sold several months or a year ago to the guy you fellas know. the former owner, who shall remain nameless, was a man who i found to be really crooked. i was 17 and bought my first vette from him. big mistake. i also made the mistake of letting him work on it which he gummed up real bad. i parted ways and that was it. i heard that he was going to prison on fraud or some bull like that. i wasnt surprised. talk about a liar! as far as i know the callaway was legit. it is a brand new car up close. it does have the LT4 and is all stock. it is also signed by john? callaway on the roof panel i believe. the only mod that was done was the smoothie engine covers that were put on it. i went to the place where it was, in easley SC, and asked about where the callaway went. he said he sold it and was buying a ZR1 callaway. i'm like MMMM k. as for the boat, no the car has no trailer hitch. the boat is a one of a kind GS Vette boat. has some really hot motor in it. it's a legit callaway/ boatmaker product. he has a plaque from where he ordered all the stuff on it. lots of nice things like the hash marks on the wrong side due to right hand steering of a boat. only one spare and tires are directional so he had to choose which side he got. red interior. when this man owned it, it had never been in the water, which is a shame in my book. i hadnt heard that it had sold but i havent been to his store in a long time either. all i know is the man who bought the car got a very nice one. the man who maybe bought the boat got a very very rare boat that would be a blast to drive and have fun with. as for the former owner of these two, be glad you dont know him. to the new owners, take care of these machines and keep em legit. this goes to show that crime doesnt pay and neither does being a butthole!

Yep... being crooked or into crime may pay of in the short term, but eventually you'll get busted.

Thanks for the scoop on the car, I appreciate it!
