I think the ones with the C3, C4, and C5 were really into modifications when the C6 came along the owner were content with just driving them and did modify them as much. When the C7 hit the street and now the C8 the Vettes are getting too complicated to work on without the computer programs and special tools IMHO
I agree with you there, I could tinker around with my C3 and have fun. C5, a little, but not too much. My C6, just drove the hell out of it. My C7's, drive, drive, drive, have no desire to tinker with anything, my Z has more power than I'll ever use or need, just fun to drive.
