hey,

after reading alot of post and threads i think i got it; a stealth ram wouldnt fit under a stock c4 hood right? (can this be fix with adding a hood with a scope?) anyway i was wondering where should i buy a custom one? and will it be good as the holley's?

Thanks

(im also going to get the car stroke soon where is the best place to buy a 396 stroke kit?)

the standard HOLLEY STEALTH RAM will cost about $500-$530 delivered to your door, If your installing it in a car that has enough hood clearance to run the standard stealth ram, the standard HOLLEY STEALTH RAM is an EXCELLENT upgrade for a standard TPI EFI setup, HOLLEY GOT A 60HP PLUS increase in hp on a nearly stock 1992 camaro! BUT ON A CORVETTE with its limited clearances ADDING A SCOOP WITH ENOUGH CLEARANCE LOWERS YOUR CORVETTES RESALE VALUE, CHANGES THE LOOKS, AND paint plus installation work can,t cost less than $400-$600 MODIFIYING YOUR STOCK HOOD! and a custom hood alone costs $1000 or more, the custom STEALTH RAM IS THE BEST AND MOST COST EFFECTIVE WAY TO GO!!

http://fasterdeals.com/vette/index.html

its almost the same as the standard HOLLEY STEALTH RAM WITH THE FOLLOWING IMPORTANT CHANGES
IT FITS UNDER THE CORVETTE HOOD and PROVIDES A HUGE INCREASE IN AIRFLOW/HP POTENTIAL (stock TPI flows about 190cfm-200cfm, the HOLLEY STEALTH RAM FLOWS about 275cfm stock to 300cfm with mild porting)<(the standard HOLLEY STEALTH RAM WON,T)
THE CUSTOM PLENUM HAS INCREASED DISTRIBUTOR CLEARANCE
THE custom plenum CAN be fitted with a (the 9TH COLD START INJECTOR with minimal custom work and an optional kit for the EARLY style TPIs even the standard HOLLEY STEALTH RAM does not have that available as an option)

heres one guys comments and he has not even tuned it in yet,
notice hes getting better airflow , allowing quicker REVs than the super ram, it replaced

SHOULD YOU SWAP TO A CUSTOM STEALTH RAM,IN A WORD,
YES, while it depends on your combo(gearing, stall speed, cam, cylinder heads, displacemen,ETC.
the HSR can potentially produce the best results for the money spent of all the currently available intakes, 60hp-90hp plus improvements have been recorded swapping from a stock highly restrictive TPI intake to a STEALTH RAM, yes it takes both the correct combo and tuning to use that big improvement in air flow but at least youll not have to worry about the intake restricting performance. my 11:1 cpr 383 corvette picked up in excess of 70hp with the swap, but the TPI intake was SEVERELY restricting my engines breathing, most of the improvement will be in the 4400rpm-6600rpm so a cam and cylinder heads that match that rpm range are a big help in getting the most from the intakes better air flow

keep in mind its the total COMBO, that matters, there are no MAGIC parts, MATCHING both THE ENGINE PARTS AND TRANS STALL/GEARING ARE MANDATORY for BEST RESULTS
if you need an extra 1"-1 3/8" hood clearance that the standard HOLLEY STEALTH RAM DOES NOT PROVIDE,(LIKE ON A CORVETTE!)

first, ITS NOT CHEAPER, BUT IT IS A BETTER DEAL COMPARED TO THE STANDARD STEALTH RAM (IF) your installing that STEALTH RAM IN A CORVETTE AND CHEAPER THAN INSTALLING A HOOD SCOOP!and LOOKS ARE DECEIVING
THE standard STEALTH RAM cost BETWEEN $480-$530 PLUS SHIPPING (figgure on about $650-$800 up and running once you add the mandatory small base HEI ignition swap, A SALVAGE YARD 1987-92 camaro dist fits)) cost, depending on the fuel pressure reg. fuel rail kit you choose. BUT IT WILL NOT FIT UNDER CA C-4 HOOD WITHOUT A HOOD SCOOP.ITS AN OUTSTANDING DEAL FOR THOSE WANTING TO UPGRADE THE STOCK TPI and on a car that has the hood clearance the standard HOLLEY STEALTH RAM IS A GOOD BUY! and ADDs 2000-2500RPM IN EXTRA BREATHING POTENTIAL TO YOUR ENGINE.
the CUSTOM BUILT PLENUM raises the price to $775 (includes shipping)(and IT also requires the USE OF a camaro or similar distrib.) BUT IT has the ability to fit under the C-4 hood WITHOUT a hood scoop, plus it has relocated sensor and vacume hookup points to make installation in the corvette easier, the HOLLEY plenum is a CASTING with a cast upper ribbed surface, the custom plenum is a fully welded extremely solidly built and track tested design with 3/16"and 3/8" thick construction, featuring a powder coated exterior for corosion resistance and designed to be fitted (optional) with a 9th cold start injector with minimal additional work
GETTING YOUR MONEYS WORTH IN A HIGH PERFORMANCE TPI INTAKE REPLACEMENT UPGRADE
read this info below carefully, ITS WELL WORTH THE TIME

grumpyvette; how much bigger is the HOLLEY STEALTH RAM, than the custom? (how big would the scoop need to be?)

Question: Holley Throttle Body is an extract which i will need to buy no matter which one i pick right?

the standard holley stealth ram is just over 10.1 " tall the custom stealth ram is just under 9 inches tall and can be dropped to 8 5/8" very easily making it lower than a G.M.tpi, the custom stealth ram also has an angled throttle body mount that gains even more hood clearance, almost any twin blade 48mm-58mm GM ,EDELBROCK,HOLLEY,LINGENFELTER throttle body will work on either setup.
youll need a hood scoop with a minimum of 1 1/2" clearance, but the cost of the scoop, necessary paint, and fiberglass work alone will cost far more than the custom plenum that fits, under the stock hood and a custom hood scoop tends to LOWER the CORVETTES resale value
BTW corvette hoods are made from SMC not fiberglass so permenently bonding a (FIBERGLASS SCOOP to a SMC hood requires SKILL and special epoxies or the scoop tends to develope hair line cracks in the paint as it slowly breaks loose if the works not done correctly

yes it should work just fine with the standard stealth ram,
but that hood from TOLEDO PRO COSTS BIG BUCKS 85-96 HI-RISE Hood $1399.00 PLUS SHIPPING PLUS PAINTING
youll be LUCKY to spend less than $1800-$2000 by the time its shipped, mounted, installed and painted altho it does look nice!

cost that could be avoided useing the custom stealth ram plenum

THATS WHY IM TELLING YOU THAT THE CUSTOM STEALTH RAM IS THE BEST WAY TO GAIN ANOTHER 2000PLUS ENGINE rpm IN INTAKE SYSTEM BREATHING RANGE
LOOK IF THE FORMULA FO HP IS (torque x rpm / 5252=hp)
if your makeing 350ft lbs of tq at 4000rpm thats 267hp
move that same tq curve only 1500rpm higher in the rpm range due to the vastly better breathing the custom stealth ram offers and you have
350ft lbs @ 5500rpm=367hp and youll potentially gain that extra HP well under the engines red line
LOOK AT THE RESULTS AGAIN (READ THE ARTIClES)

youll need to purchase the "KIT" and get the COMPRESSION ratio to match BOTH the CAM and CYLINDERHEADS you plan on useing
ideally you will also want the cars gearing and stall speed to match too.
let me know what your goals are and I can advise you on that.
getting the parts of the combo correct is extremely important if you should be intersested in the best results
