I've got a 5lb 1301 pull system on the way and I was thinking about a 5 lb heat activated automatic system as it would be a bummer to be off the road knocked into next weak and not have any fire supression... On a bike you can bail out and wait for the sky and ground to stay put  in a car your along for the ride until you can crawl out

A full auto system would make me paranoid, unless it has some fail safe stuff built in...Heat detection AND no rotation or multiple heat heat detectors, something, with an over ride

Manual halon system. Photo shows fire bottle mounted under dash, manual release at drivers door at "E" with safety pin so knuckleheads don't push it saying "whats this"

I asked this very same question a few months back on "another" forum and got loads of "If you maintain your car properly" type replies. My feeling is that with the $$$ investment, what can it hurt? And I'm not racing or in a position that a bail-out would be a problem. But I am looking at adding a system to my car, full manual for me, but there again, I'm NOT racing, just looking to keep from having to call the insurance company for a box of hot dogs..

And BTW- I carry a portable bottle all the time, I just like the idea of a mounted, bigger Halon system.

manual system for me...the downside of this for a street car is the lines you have to run, my bottle is mounted off the cage on the right and I have a line to the firewall behind the dist, one to the rear bulkhead by the fuel cell.

A fire extinguisher 9those small ones for under the seat) give a good feeling but man do they run out of oomph fast. If you have a fire of any significance it won't help a whole lot. Then again, something's always better than nothing.

Trust me...if I have a fire of any significance, you WILL see me beat a hasty retreat and let the real fire fighters do their job. I have insurance for major catastrophies. ;)

Ok It looks like I went the right way... I went with a Manual pull unit RS unit from Safecraft with alloy bottle/1301 three ouputs/nozzles

Screw the interior I wanna live

I'll leave room to mount a 10 lb if I get the itch but I think I'll do a separate 5 lb automatic one for the cabin in the event that... Well, you know why... :thud:
