Hey there, C2 owners! I was reading the post for Chevrolet Corvette on Wikipedia and I do not think the following is correct. I thought I would ask those who would know best:

Corvette Distinguishing Features
Corvette has several key features that make it instantly recognizable.

The second is the four rounded taillights. Introduced in 1961 towards the end of the C1 era, these have also gone through some revisions; for example, some C2 models came with six lights. Other shapes have also been used. They are usually perfect circles, but ovals- and even rounded rectangles- have found their way onto the rear of the car.

I always assumed when I saw a mid year car w/ 6 taillights it was a modification. Did they ever build C2's with 6 taillights? I want to correct this but need to know for sure.

There were NO factory six tail light cars. Those were all done aftermarket.

If I'm correct, those six taillights was a dealer option (aftermarket installed indeed, NO C2 came straigt from the factory with 6 taillights)...

And

The rounded rectangles came in '91 and the ovals came on the C5 ('97)... Before that (but only from '61 up to '90), Corvettes came out of the factory with perfect circle taillights..

Some dealers added them before they were sold so there were probably a few people that thought the six lights were factory

I corrected the Wikipedia page to reflect it

My dad's '66 had 6 tail lights when he bought it back in 1980, and the guy he bought it off of said the dealer installed them. They were nothing but problems due to ground gremlins.

Fastforward to 2005, the '66 is at the shop getting a new soft top put on. One of the workers is backing it out of the garage and hits a '57 T-Bird. That's when dad decided to have the 2 additional lights removed. Looks MUCH better IMO.

Sorry, no after photo's yet....
