i assume if there will be a Zo6 version it will have a hardtop....but why didn't chevy use the XLR's folding hardtop as standard? a corvette with this technology would be wonderful. if they can put one on a £12000 peugeot and a citroen they can certainly put one on a vette....:) :)

the fall back response is always.....weight.
And dont forget the price. A retractable hardtop would raise the price a few grand at least. And don't forget the pinch on cargo space.

Weight, space, price. And, if the pilot groups or survey respondents didn't really care to have it, it wasn't included.

Perhaps the XLR is consideded a "touring" car where performance is not the driving factor. The corvette is a sports car and performance is a prime issue.

if the sl500/sl55amg can have a folding hardtop and still be a performance car than why not?...and i don't think the XLR's performance is really lacking....i'd be more than happy to cruise around town in one!
that's my two cents...
i just think the hardtop is so much prettier and the only thing that could make it any better is if it could fold away. coupes and converts don't have the same clean lines
