I tried to roll my window down while it was froze. Now it won't go all the way up. It gets to about an inch from the top and stops. The motor runs, it just keeps clicking. Am I going to have to replace the whole regulator, track, motor and all? Or can I just replace the ribbon? Thanks in advance for the help. Looks like a cool site. I"m a newbe.:D

Welcome aboard!:buhbye:

I would suggest pulling the door panel and take a look. Maybe something came loose.

Sounds exactly like a tooth or two on the plastic motor gear failed. If you can pull the window all the way up by hand and you can manually move it down to where it originally stops, then I am almost 100% sure it is the gear. The gear is not very expensive but you will have to remove the motor to install the it.

Sorry I was thinking of C3.

The C4 has a ribbon that probably needs replacing.

My vette is an 85. I think they quit useing the plastic ribbon in 86. Am I correct? I'm getting ready to pull the door panel, so I'll know soon.

Thanks for the info and greatings. I've been looking for a good Corvette sight. I've been to a couple, they had useful info., but I like the forum activity. I have a few cars and am addicted to modding them, so the forums are quite helpful. This is kind of off topic, but whats the difference between the 85-86-? heads. I have to replace an intake gasket, and I figured since I'm going to tear it down ,I might as well put some better heads on it.I found some aluminum edelbrock performers for $800. 60cc combustion chambers, compared to 76cc stock. Will give me more compression = more HP,but the guy said they we for 87-91? Not sure what year the lt-1 came back out. Also would I be able to use the aluminum 113 that are used from 86-? Thanks again,I'm also fighting the war on RICE.
