Well, my 07 Vette only has 4000 miles on it. I'm driving home from work today and I am behind this semi, but not really close. Suddenly this pebble slings up and chips my windshield. I was pretty furious. It took alot of breathing for me not to follow the semi and threaten the drivers life. I called the glass shop and they said they could repair it for 53 dollars, but I would still be able to see the rock chip. Anyone else had this happen to a brand new car before?

Yes, on my 06. I hadn't owned it too long was behind a pickup with a trailer that had rock on it and one skipped off and up hit the top of the windshield putting a small chip in it. Hasn't spread. Frustrating but my wife was driving her BMW 540 home the day she picked up and a truck flipped up a rock and chipped it, we had it repaired, still visible but just one of those things.

Got one recently with 1200 mi on the odometer. They are common in the South West. I am going to carry windhsield coverage for that reason even though Geico wants $30 a month for it. Found a new windshield for $350 without the HUD.... almost twice as much with it. Between two daily drivers, I replace at least one windshield every year... sucks but not a big deal.

Yep, got a chip last year. $100 glass deductible on a $1400 replacement OEM windshield. :thud:

Any of you's ever heard of clearplex ? its a window film that is applied to the outside of the windshield that really does stop all the chips from happening. I researched this product because the first week i bought my 350z i got a chip, not bad enough for repair but just bad enough to annoy me everytime i drove the damn car being that the chip was right in front of the driver side, so unless someone throws a brick in my windshield i dont worry about rockchips.

Got a chip at about mile 100 or so after pickup at the NCM. 6500 miles later, I got another one. The soft windshield is literally the only weakness with this wonderful machine. I too have the HUD. Does this feature make the windshield more susceptible to chips?

Fact of life at speed. I have never had a car that did not get windshield chips. I had a souped up SAAB 900 Turbo (upright windshield) that I used to run fast from LA to Vegas. It was like the windshield was a non-slip surface:rolling: :rolling:

Getting a new windshield this week. On my way to work and BAM. I got 17000miles out of this one.:partyon: Rocks are going to ding your paint and glass, don't let that stop you from enjoying your car.

On my cross country expedition from Seattle to New York, I got a grand total of 4 little chips on my windshield. Not really upset. If I wanted it to be flawless, I'd never drive it. What fun is a 'vette if you never drive it? Wear and tear baby...

No, but chips in the HUD windows does cause dings in the wallet.
